LYNDON CENTER, Vt. – The Lyndon State College Athletics Department and the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee recognized and celebrated the student-athletes of all 15 varsity teams, including 2016-17 additions men’s and women’s track and field and women’s lacrosse, Sunday night for their academic and athletic contributions to the Lyndon State College community.
The night began with remarks from interim President Nolan Atkins. The alumni speaker, former men’s basketball coach and current Lyndon Institute girls’ varsity basketball coach, Eric Berry ’91 gave a speech recognizing the hard work and many sacrifices of Division III student-athletes before the presentation of team awards by the coaches.
Also awarded at the banquet were the annual Dudley Bell Outstanding Student-Athlete Awards, the Champions of Character Award, and the Green and Gold Award for highest GPA with sophomore or higher standing. Mikayla Hodge (Basketball/Lacrosse) and Devon Rollins (Baseball) were honored with the female and male Dudley Bell Outstanding Student-Athete Award while Sierra Hargrave (Cross-country) received the Champions of Character Award. Abby Salvadore (Track and Field) and Zak Johnson (Baseball) received the Green and Gold Award.
