WATERVILLE, Maine - Lyndon State college fell to 0-2 on the season with a 7-2 road loss to Thomas College on the Terriers' home courts.
In No. 1 singles, Thomas' Jeremy Cliff defeated Brad Darby (Sanford, Maine) 6-1, 7-5 and the Terriers' Andre Giguere topped Lyndon's Chris Hammett (Brunswick, Maine) 6-0, 6-0 in No. 2 singles. David Campbell made it 3-0 in singles with a 6-4, 76 win over Peter Dutile (Greene, Maine) before Andrew Folan earned a fourth win for the hosts by besting Paul Thibault (Westfield, Mass.) 6-3, 6-0.
The Hornets gained a measure of respect in No. 5 and No. 6
singles as Jeremiah Powell (Concord, Vt.) and
Ryan Maroney (St. Johnsbury, Vt.) recorded their
first collegiate singles victories. Powell defeated Nate Hewett
6-2, 7-6 while Maroney downed Mike Kunkel 6-0, 6-3.
In doubles action, the team of Cliff and Campbell defeated Darby and Dutile 8-4, the tandem of Gigeure and Folan topped Hammett and Thibault 8-1 and the duo of Hewett and Kunkel beat Powell and Maroney 8-1.
